Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849)
Masterpieces from the Hokusai-kan museum in obuse
Over 150 works, including 40 paintings. The majority of the works on loan are leaving Japan for the first time.
Organized in collaboration with the Hokusai Museum in Obuse, Japan, this exhibition will highlight several themes dear to Hokusai’s heart, like his relationship to nature, plants, water, as well as the traditional Edo-era theme of beautiful women, through the scope of his woodblock prints (Ukiyo-e) and paintings.
